Technology and ABE/ESOL
I found several articles we can consider. I have put them on Weebly for better access - I hope.
Emerging Technologies
The following article pays a lot of attention to listing emerging technologies and what one might do with them. I pay special attention to the collaborative writing aspect - there is no special technology involved - I have one tiny example I mocked up of a project here, students can collaboratively create a webpage or site (Weebly is a free service - unless you want to get fancy) about any relevant matter whether it is their home country, special interests, etc. But this collaborative writing also includes wikis and blogs, which offer more in the way of easy interaction and comment from the instructor, and certainly involves forums as well.

Use of technology in the instruction of adult English language learners
This article also describes a number of technologies and special focus on collaborative world-wide projects. (I find this site really confusing, but I sort of figured out what they are trying to do and it seems really kind of cool.) Of special interest in this article, though, is the list of Considerations near the end.

Optimizing computer technology integration
This is a study to "better understand what optimal computer technology integration look like in...(ABE)." The Four Characteristics on page 108 is especially interesting and relevant.

Technology risky?
I liked this one because it is a study of instructors who resist or are thoughtfully hesitant about including technology in learning. I thought it might help us understand ourselves a little more.

Extent of technology integration in ABE
One of the reasons why I like this article is in a quote I paraphrase near the beginning: one of the biggest challenges of technology use is to move away from the focus on the technology and move the focus to the learning and learner. The abstract is a little strange... read on - the content makes more sense.
